The view from where I will be staying tomorrow night as long as this awful Nor'easter doesn't mess up my flight!

Everything Hallmark Doesn't Say

This past weekend Stuttering Shell and I went to visit Whitney Caroline Designs at the CHKD (a local children's hospital) Craft Show in Norfolk. Check out Stuttering Shell's post here - we had an amazing time!

While browsing Whitney's store and picking up a new damask monogrammed duffle bag for myself (oops!) I saw the cutest signs out of the corner of my eye so I wandered over to what turned out to be the cutest and most hilarious card shop ever, The Kiwi Tree.

Check out the one I got for a newly preggers friend of mine:

And once she has the baby I'm sure I will be picking this one up!

And this is for that friend who has the jerk of a boyfriend:

And for the couple that has been dating since high school and you are waaaay past college graduation:

For our friends that have hubby's in the military this one is perfect!!

And you all know how much I love Christmas so here are the holiday cards!

I'd like to send this one to my family members who make me drink. We all have those, right?

And here is my all time favorite holiday card!!

I mean, could it be more on point?

Y'all can check out The Kiwi Tree here - and if you are local they sell it at Simply Selma's and A. Dodson's (which I really want to check out but even thinking about driving to Suffolk makes me immediately lazy). And you can also follow The Kiwi Tree on Twitter.

(Disclaimer: Please don't take offense to this post - these cards are soley for fun!)

Beautyfix Love: October Kit Review

As you recall back in this post in July I went on and on and on about my love for Beauty fix! Well when my next shipment arrived a few weeks ago my love grew stronger. We're talking marriage level here!

I'll be honest with you, when I ordered my first Beautyfix I thought for sure I would cancel before the next shipment. I didn't think that it would be worth the $49.95 plus s&h per kit, boy was I ever wrong! And well, now I'm hooked, I can't imagine missing one! Who knows what type of fab new product I could miss out on!! If you'd like an invite to join - just leave me a comment with your e-mail or tweet me and I will send it right over!

On to the goods!! Here is what came in my latest shipment:
  • 3Lab Perfect Foaming Cleanser (full size, 3.4 oz, exclusive to this kit) On this one I'm sorry but besides the way it foams, which is great. I don't have anything nice to say about this cleanser. It dried out my face so badly that I have not used it again.
  • Canyon Ranch Your Transformation Balance Light-Weight Moisture (full size, 1.7 oz) I like this moisturizer a lot, the consistency is perfect and it moisturizes great without being greasy at all.
  • Chella Enzyme Exfoliating Crema Mask (full size, 2.5 oz) LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this mask! I will be buying lots more of these tubes. This face mask is the first one ever that has actually helped with my pores. The first time I used it - I noticed a distinct difference in my pore size and I feel like since I have been using it I have not had nearly as many blackheads. It feels so nice going on and has a subtle, soothing fragrance to it. I am dying to try every Chella product now!
  • Coola Face SPF 30 (full size, 2 oz) I haven't tried this out yet, but I did take a peek and smell it - the smell was minimal (in a good way) and it looks nice and thick
  • Frais Hand Sanitizer (travel size, 0.2 oz) I just love the way this smells - it's not chemically at all like a lot of other hand sanitizers. It's a nice lemony fresh smell and the size is perfect for throwing into a clutch!
  • Jonathan Product Create Smooth (full size, 1.7 oz) This stuff is amazing! I usually use the Paul Mitchel Skinny Serum or the Fekkai Brilliant Glossing cream and this may actually take the place of both! I noticed that my hair is SUPER shiny when I use it - I'm very impressed and definitely excited that this is one of the full size products because I'm going through it at the speed of light! I will definitely be purchasing more once I'm out!!
  • RAW Natural Beauty Mineral Eyeshadow Trio (full size, 3 pieces) These are great - I've never used mineral eye shadows before and these come in great neutral colors. I don't use them everyday but I definitely keep them in my make-up bag!
  • iQ Derm Firmeceuticals Body Firming Gel (Full Size, 6.75 oz.) I haven't used this yet but I'm excited to try it out - I'll let you know!
  • Glowelle 7 day kit- a dietary supplement for beautiful skin (full size) I was super excited about trying this out because I have heard great things about the Glowelle line. Sadly I realized that my kit was expired. Originally I just said oh that stinks and threw it away and then yesterday I decided to send Beautyfix and Glowelle a tweet and what do ya know! They are going to send me another (non-expired) set and promptly apologized for the mishap! Beautyfix really does have top notch customer service! I'll let you know how it goes once I receive the replacement!
  • Lisa Hoffman Night & Day Vitamin A&C Serum (full size .5 oz) I am loving this serum! It's a little strong for my skin so I can only use it at night but so far, so good. I haven't noticed any difference from using it - but I'm thinking that may take time.
  • Kerstin Florian Neroli Water (deluxe sample) This is supposed to be an aromatherapy spray that you spritz on when you are stressed. I'll be honest - this went right in my bathroom drawer and has not came out since. I like the idea - I just think I'm never in a position to start spritzing this on in times of stress!! I usually just head to Starbucks for that!
So there you have it! My review - all in all I am so happy with Beautyfix - it's like the mailman turns into Santa every 3 months!! Let me know if you have any questions at all and I will do my best to answer them!

Also - you can follow Beautyfix, Chella, and Glowelle on twitter!!

Crafts: Painted Wine Glass How-To

Ok loves, here is the post that some of y'all have been waiting for! How to paint wine glasses!!! I apologize that these are from two different times - I forgot to take all the pictures the first time around.

I have always loved the Lolita hand painted wine glasses and see all sorts of other different painted glasses when I am out and about at little gift shops. I often see the non-Lolita ones being sold for $20+ and to be honest, a lot of them aren't all that cute.

Luckily a good friend of mine invited me over a couple of months ago to show me just how to make them at home and I'm passing my crafting knowledge over to you now, perfect for holiday gifts!!

First you need to get some Acrylic Enamel paint. This is often really hard to find. I went to every craft store near my house and none of them carried this. I did find it for a great price on Joann.com and I realize now that I should have just went ahead and ordered every color!! You may also want an enamel pen (I did find that at Micheal's) for writing names and monograms. And assorted paint brushes are great - depending on what you'd like to put on your glass.

You also need to pick up some wine glasses - you can use any size. I got these at Wal-Mart - $4.88 for two of them.

I like to write out what I'm going to put on the glass ahead of time and use it as a spacing guide.

Then you will want to do your monogram/word/name first - the first time it will show up very light - that's ok - once dry you can go back over it to thicken up the letters. If you happen to mess up - no worries! Nail polish and a q-tip work perfectly to remove the paint before it has set.

Make sure you let each layer of paint dry completely before going back over it.

To make the polka dots all you need is paint and a pencil with an eraser at the bottom.

You just need a smidge of paint on a plate.

Then dip the bottom of the eraser lightly into the paint.

And press gently onto the wine glass - and ta da! perfect little polka dots!! (Pardon the Kroger sales flyer!!)

Once you have your wine glass completed set your oven to 350 degrees (no need to preheat).

Place your wine glasses upside down on a cookie sheet or pan.

Pop them in the oven for 30 minutes.

And be careful when you remove - everything will be extremely hot!! Let glasses cool - and voila! You're all done!! Just make sure to hand wash.

I hope you all have enjoyed the wine glass "how to"!! Please e-mail me with any questions at LisLoves@yahoo.com
